You're right Jim, running up the deficit rather than raising taxes is so much better a course, especially when the economy is growing.  Look where all the tax cuts have gotten us.

And when you figure pappy Bush and Clinton raised taxes to spur the economic growth, the growth we saw wqas begun by fiscal responsibility and paying for what we did to larger extent than in the 80s.

Yes, and while i won't argue that, as the economy progressed, the tax cuts might have spurred growth, I reject the statement that the " did indeed slow the recovery compared to what the economy could have achieved."

And I think it also ignores the effect of the Bush tax increases and attention to fiscal responsibility as also contrbuting to the economic recovery.

I think fiscal prudence always make sense when we are in times of economic turmoil; the article seems to conclude otherwise.
